Today, a lot of studios make anime with various stories. One of the genre of anime is Music. We know that anime always uses music, it can be the opening and ending songs or the soundtracks. One day, when I was chatting with my friend, he asked me about anime with the stories revolving around music. I was confused about which anime had a good story about music due to the great numbers of anime that Japanese produce each season. Finally, I found some of the best anime that focus on music.
K-ON! is produced by Kyoto Animation, one of the most popular anime studios. The anime was adapted from manga written and illustrated by Kakifly. It has two series and one movie, with the first season being aired on June 26th, 2009.
“K-On!” is short of keiongaku (軽音楽) which means light music (can be translated as pop music). The story is about a music club of Sakuragaoka Girl’s High School which is about to be disbanded due to the lack of members. There are five main characters who join the club, Yui Hirasawa as the guitarist and the highlighted character, Mio Akiyama as the bassist, Ritsu Tainaka as the drummer, Tsumugi Kotobuki as the keyboardist and the last is Azusa Nakano as the second guitarist.
The mix of music and comedy make this anime very enjoyable. A lot of songs have been created by them, including “Tenshi ni Fureta yo!”, “Pure Pure Heart”, “Gohan wa Okazu”, “U&I” and many more.

Love Live! (ラブライブ) was produced by Sunrise studio. It was adapted from manga written by Sakurako Kimino. Currently, it has two series of anime, one movie and some side stories.
Otonokizaka High School is a girl school close to the three big towns: Akihabara, Kanda and Jinbo. The school is planning to close within three years due to the lack of enrolling students. The students of the school of not want their school closed, so some of the students take initiation to establish an idol group with a goal to promote their school nationwide. There are nine members who join the idol group which later are known as “μ’s”, one of the character is Honoka Kousaka who is the center of the group.
μ’s have a lot of songs ever from their first series up until the recent movie. Some of the songs are “Snow Halation”, “Love Marginal”, “Diamond Princess no Yūutsu” and “Natsuiro Egao de 1, 2, Jump!”. Not only μ’s, others idol groups from different schools also perform many songs.

The iDOLM@STER is produced by A-1 Pictures which the first series aired between July to December 2011. The anime is adaptation of rhythm video game series created by Bandai Namco Games. It has one series, one movie, two OVAs and some spin-off which is in the latest series “THE IDOLM@STER CINDERELLA GIRLS”, that was aired between January to April 2015.
The story is about 765 Production Studio. It is a small studio in Japanese entertainment industry. It belongs to 13 girls combined in a group, they climb their way to the top of the entertainment industry, mostly in music.
Some of songs on this anime are “9:02pm”, “Acceleration”, “Alive”, “Colorful Days” and “First Stage”.
One more music themed anime from Kyoto Animation is known as Hibike! Euphonium, adapted from manga series written by Ayano Takeda. The anime was aired in April 2015.
The story is about a brass band from Kitauji high school. It had participated in the national tournament and won, but after the club’s adviser changed, they failed the qualification. However, school has appointed a new adviser to the club. With the strict instructions from the adviser, the members of the club slowly improve their skills. The main character of the anime is Kumiko Oumae, a girl who joined brass band in junior high school. With her friends: Sapphire Kawashima, Hazuki Katou and Reina Kousaka.
