The moment your eyes would set on this place, it immediately transports you to an alternate romantic dream, surrounded by the exquisite sea of flowers of this Iris garden, you may never want to leave!
Suigō Sawara Aquatic Botanical Garden hosts the largest collection of Irises in Asia, with over 6 hectares of very well cultivated Japanese Irises, Blue Flags, Water Lilies, and Lotuses.
The sun was shy that day, in fact it rained in the morning, it left small puddles on the ground, but the overcast sky and cool weather for the rest of the day made it pleasant to walk around the freshly showered plants from the early drizzle.
Carefully planned softscapes and Hardscapes like the bridges arched over the waterways, the lamp posts, the wooden flower tags, and the vine covered trellis walkway, makes it perfect for strolling hand in hand with a special someone or with your family.
Every location is great for souvenir pictures for the flowers and the lush green scenery serve as a very stunning background. So go ahead and snap as many photo portraits as you like!
Once you’re walking around and would want something else to do, you might want to take the boat ride for a closer look on the Water Lilies and Lotuses.
The boat rides are handled by women in uniform who are very accommodating by narrating various stories about the garden and the town. A lot of them might be tired, but they never fail to offer their sweet smiles.
If you’re lucky enough, the resident frogs could grace you with their presence. Just don’t pick it up and give it a kiss, because I’m pretty sure it won’t turn into a handsome prince! But, in a place as magical as this, who knows, your prince might just be around the corner! ❤
This garden is best viewed late May until the mid of June, during the Iris festival when the flowers are in full bloom.
