Ever dreamed of traveling all around the world but don’t have the enough travel money? I did. But then I found a place where you can see famous world heritage sites from all over the world for just Y2500 (or roughly $20) and all in one day.
Tobu World Square is located in Kinugawa, Tochigi Prefecture. It houses miniature replicas of famous buildings and UNESCO-designated world heritage sites from Asia, Europe, Africa and North America.
After hearing about this place, I tried not to keep my hopes up because these were miniatures after all. But I was wrong to underestimate this place! The ratio of the buildings and the little people on them is only 1/25 of the real ones but the details are amazing!
I’m a believer of “you gotta see it to believe it” so here are some photos from that trip:
New York, USA. The then Twin Towers.
St. Peter’s Square, The Vatican. I believe this replica has got to be the best one there! Just look at that crowd! It’s exactly what I imagine would be a typical Sunday at St. Peter’s where people start gathering for the Papal Audience.
The Eiffel Tower, Paris, France. If not for the mountainous background, I bet you couldn’t tell this is a replica’s photo at all!
Arc de Triomphe, Paris, France
Notre Dame Cathedral, Paris, France
The Parthenon, Greece
Neuschvanstein Castle, Bavaria, Germany
Big Ben, London, England. I have always wanted to see the Big Ben at night. I guess this sight sort of takes that off my bucket list.
The Sphinx, Egypt
The Temples of King Ramses II at Abu Simbei, Egypt
St. Basil’s Cathedral, Moscow, Russia
Akasaka Palace, Tokyo, Japan
Tobu World Square is accessible by car, train or bus.
