    1. Yuwaku Hot Spring

    Yuwaku hot spring is a 1300-year-old hot spring situated 30 minutes by car from Kanazawa main station. It is a historical spring which was once used by the feudal lords of the area, namely the Maeda family of Kaga province. It is a mountainous resort with clear alkaline water. There are several other small hot spring inns in that area where one can have a nice bathing trip. The area is also covered with scenic beauty in all seasons.     Hakuko-kan is like a gold leaf institution. We all know that Kanazawa is famous for its gold leaf products such as crafts, cosmetics, and food. Visitors can see the manufacturing process, history and culture of gold leaf. There are two experiences one can have at this place. They are gold leaf transfer and gold leaf attachment experiences. The gold leaf transfer experience is seizing, putting and shaping gold leaf with bamboo chopsticks on a leather board for 10 minutes for 500 yen while the gold leaf attachment experience is attaching gold leaf to objects such as a hand mirror and jewelry box for 90 minutes for 1800 yen.     This art center features red brick warehouses which used to be spinning mills and are a place of art activities today. Music, theater, fine arts and other artistic activities happen here.     The Kanaiwa and Ono areas once acted as a port town to Kanazawa and belong to the residential and industrial suburbs of Kanazawa today. The specialty of this area is the soy sauce industry. Here, soy sauce is manufactured from salt, soybeans and subsoil water giving a unique taste to the local cuisine. Today, approximately 40 companies are doing soy sauce manufacturing here and there are many unique soy stores located in the area. Some storehouses are too old and act as modified galleries and tea-houses.
