In December 2015 a video was posted on Youtube, presenting the 26th Annual Independent Critics List of 100 Most Beautiful Faces of 2015. This list is comprised of people from various countries, as it aims to be a very international list and not a popularity contest. This year, Nana from the South Korean girl band After School is placed first again like last year. Let’s take a look at how Japanese celebrities fare in this list!
Nozomi Sasaki hails from the northern prefecture of Akita and started fashion modeling in her teenage years. Upon being discovered by Emi Suzuki, an experienced fashion model, Nozomi Sasaki became a featured model of Pinky fashion magazine. After being a fashion model for 7 years, she became famous for being a gravure idol (meaning she appears in a variety of styles and genres), and a commentator for the K-1 World Max and the Dream Fighting Championships. She is known for being very doll-like, in both looks and mannerisms.
Haruka Shimazaki is a member of girl group AKB48 and she currently belongs to Team A, the most important part of the group. She is also known as Paruru to her fans. Due to her beauty and work ethics, she became one of the most popular members of AKB48. She has a very pretty girl-next-door look.
Mirei Kiritani is an actress, model, and news anchor with a mature kind of beauty. She has appeared in films and dramas such as ‘Kimi ni Todoke’, ‘Arakawa Under the Bridge’, ‘Ace Attorney’, and ‘Koisuru Vampire’.
The highest placed Japanese celebrity in the list is Satomi Ishihara. You may recognize her as the actress who played the role of Hanji in Hollywood movie ‘Attack on Titan’. Besides that, you can see the beauty with the pouty lips in other dramas and films like ‘Yoshitsune’, ‘Sadako 3D 2’, ‘Dear Sister’, and ‘Kimi wa Pet’.
Do you agree with TC Candler’s List of the 100 Most Beautiful Faces of 2015? Did any of your favorites make it into the list? Which other Japanese celebrities do you think should have a place in the list?
