Looking for an Elegant and Cute Hairstyle from Japan? Try the Easy Kururinpa!

  • HOW TO
  • Are you looking for a way to keep your long hair out of your face and look feminine and stylish at the same time? Look no further, and learn how to do ‘kururinpa’, a hairstyle that is trending in Japan at the moment. It is popular because of its simple yet elegant look. The hairstyle is easy to accomplish, and can be done in a matter of a few minutes, or a few seconds by those who are more adept. Basically, it involves tying your hair into a ponytail and then creating a hole in the middle which you use to flip the ponytail into. There are a few variations of the kururinpa hairstyle, and you can attempt this style with double kururinpa knots by following MizukiTV’s tutorial below.

    How to Do This?

    kururinpa-step-1

Firstly, tie up the upper half portion of your hair with a black rubber band (or another color, whichever is closest to your own hair color). If you prefer you can use a different color, but it won’t blend in as well.

    kururinpa-step-2

The next step is to make a hole in the upper middle section of the tied up hair and then flip the ponytail into the hole.

    kururinpa-step-3

Third, you tie up all the hair at the bottom and then do the same thing one more time. Make a hole in the middle of the hair, and flip the pony tail into the hole.

    kururinpa-done

And there you have it, a beautiful and simple hairstyle which is easy to achieve for anyone, and usually on the first try! It is recommended to not fix the hair into very tight knots, but to let it hang slightly loose in order to give it a more casual and flowy look. If you prefer a tidier look, you may use some hairpins and hair styling products to fix any loose strands. If you have pretty hair bands, you can use one to conceal the rubber band you have used earlier on the bottom part of your hair.

    Variations

    kururinpa-half

Besides making 2 knots, you can also do only one kururinpa knot. It looks very elegant too!

    kururinpa-side

You can also switch it up a little and make the kururinpa go sideways.

This is definitely a hairstyle you would want to try when you are going for dates. It is perfect for the busy mornings when you don’t have much time but still feel like dolling up a bit, but do not want to waste too much time getting ready. It is a great alternative to the basic ponytail, which may seem a tad plain in comparison with the kururinpa’s elegance!
