Pokemon fans rejoice! Nintendo will be releasing 2 new Pokemon games in 2016. The titles of the games have been confirmed to be Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon.
The original Pokemon games, Pokemon Red and Pokemon Green, were released in Japan on the 25th of February 1996. 20 years later, Nintendo broadcasted its Nintendo Direct presentation, which unveiled their plans to release Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon for Nintendo 3DS worldwide in 2016. Earlier, the titles of the new Pokemon games were leaked when Nerd Leaks discovered that Nintendo Co. Ltd had registered the two titles at the Office for Harmonization in the International Market which registers trademarks in the European Union.
Beginning with the Game Boy Advance game, the caught Pokemon can be transferred to the next generation of games even if they are saved on a different hardware. However, this cannot be done with the GameBoy games. Thus, Nintendo introduced digital distributions of Pokemon Red, Pokemon Blue, and Pokemon Yellow on Nintendo eShop so the captured Pokemon can be transferred to the Pokemon Bank, and then be transferred to the new Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon games.
There are 9 language options to choose from in the 2 new games which are English, Italian, Spanish, Korean, French, German, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese. The two Chinese language options are the first for the Pokemon game franchise.
While not much is known about the games, it was announced recently that there is a new legendary Pokemon which goes by the name Magearna. The Pokemon has been described to be made by humans more than 500 years ago. Magearna will appear in the upcoming Pokemon movie that will be released in Japan in July 2016. The title of the movie is Pokémon the Movie: X Y & Z — Volcanion and the Exquisite Mechanical Magearna.
No doubt, fans are very excited about the upcoming games. It is uncertain when exactly will the games be released as Nintendo gave a vague indicator of “holiday 2016”. I cannot think of any other holidays besides Christmas but it seems unlikely the release date will be that far ahead! What do you think?
