Sadly the talented superstar, Kouji Wada, famous for singing Digimon theme songs has recently passed away. He was well-known for many songs from the Digimon series, such as Butter-Fly (Digimon Adventure), The Biggest Dreamer (Digimon Tamers), Fire!! / With the Will (Digimon Frontier), and We are Xros Heart Digimon Xros Wars. His most popular song is Butter-Fly, which has been shared by many fans on social media since his passing.
Born on the 29th of January, 1974, in Fukuchiyama, Kyoto, Kouji Wada was a Japanese rock singer who had also been called the Immortal Butterfly Anisong Singer. Out of the 7 Digimon series, he had contributed songs to 6 of them and sung theme songs for the first 5 Digimon series.
In 2003, he had a malignant tumor on one of the lymph nodes on his neck and also his upper pharynx, of which he was told to have fully recovered from after undergoing chemotherapy and surgery. In 2011, he announced putting a hold to his career on his blog, after discovering a change in his health. A health examination in the hospital revealed that cancer had metastasized and spread to other areas. Due to this reason, he went on a hiatus for 2 years, and after that rerecorded the songs for Digimon Adventure tri which are Butter-Fly and Seven.
Sadly, on the 3rd of April 2016, Kouji Wada passed away as a result of cancer on his upper pharynx, at the age of 42. Five days before his death, he released the single Seven (tri version).
