In Tokyo’s concrete jungle you often have to go as far skyward as Tokyo Tower, Roppongi hills or Tokyo Skytree to get a decent view over the city but at ‘Hacienda del cielo’ in Daikanyama you can forego paying to go up a tower to appreciate the night view of the city and instead enjoy it in a relaxed setting whilst enjoying some delicious Mexican food at reasonable prices.
With a large outside area complete with patio heaters and soft seats, the rooftop restaurant offers excellent views of the Tokyo skyline with Tokyo tower and other landmarks in clear sight.
Lunch on a sunny day is highly recommended. The lunch set is only 1000 yen on weekdays and 1500 yen on weekends and holidays. The weekday lunch set includes an appetizer, main dish, and drink whilst the weekend menu also offers a salad and dessert for the extra 500 yen. The main dishes are typical modern Mexican fare with tacos, fajitas, and quesadillas the mainstays.
Alternatively, set in trendy Daikanyama, Hacienda del cielo is the perfect place for a night out, offering stunning views of Tokyo’s night skyline. Weekdays it closes at 11pm with last order at 10 pm for food (10:30 pm for drinks) whilst the weekend extends opening hours to 4am with last order for food at 3am (and drinks at 3:30 am). Food can be ordered a la carte as well which is more extensive than the lunch option with a wide range of platillos (small plates), ensaladas, soups, steaks and coca (Mexican-style pizzas). Prices remain reasonable with small dishes around 500 yen and mains around 1000 yen.
Drinks are typically latin in flavor with a large selection of cocktails, sangria, wine, spirits and even a 5 shot tequila tasting set. If planning a party there are food course options at 2500 yen and 3000 yen which offer a selection of dishes for a minimum of 4 people and may be supplemented with an all you can drink option at an extra 2500 yen. It’s also possible to book the place out if planning a large party. This runs at 100,000 yen before 5pm and 150,000 yen after 5pm with the ability to accommodate up to 64 people.
Hacienda del cielo is a short 5-minute walk from Daikanyama station. So, if you’re up for a Mexican-themed cheap night out with stunning views of Tokyo, this is definitely the place to go!
