Mamoru Hosoda is an anime director who is known for his works like The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Summer Wars, Wolf Children and The Boy and the Beast. To celebrate the 10th year anniversary of his award-winning anime film entitled The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, there will be a café called Tokikake Café that will be opened in Shibuya, Tokyo.
Non-fans may not know this, but Tokikake is the short form of Toki wo Kakeru Shojo, which is the Japanese title for The Girl Who Leapt Through Time. The story of The Girl Who Leapt Through Time revolves around a girl named Makoto Konno who has the power of time travel, which she uses to fix various problems. The film has earned various awards, such as the Japan Academy Prize for Animation of the Year.
Although the café is named after an anime film, the café is really dedicated to the works of Mamoru Hosoda, instead of just based on The Girl Who Leapt Through Time anime film. Therefore, there will be food and drinks inspired by Summer Wars, Wolf Children and The Boy and the Beast. However, since 2016 is the 10th year anniversary of The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, the bulk of the menu will be inspired by that film. Do check out some of the mouth-watering food and drinks that will be served at the café.
Like other cafés which are inspired by anime themes, other merchandise will be available for sale at the café. Among the items available are keychains and handkerchiefs which you can buy as souvenirs for your friends and family who do not have the opportunity to dine at the café! Of course, you can also buy the items for yourself too!
Tokikake Café will be open during the summer from the 7th of July, 2016 until the 7th of August, 2016 at Shibuya Parco Part 1. Don’t miss this opportunity to enjoy this unique café as it will not be around permanently!
