Well-known Japanese actress from the morning drama Hanako to Anne (花子とアン), Yoshitaka Yuriko (吉高由里子) is appearing on a Wednesday NTV drama titled Tokyo Tarareba Musume (東京タラレバ娘)!
If you have watched the live-action film Gantz, then you must be familiar with Yoshitaka Yuriko, the supporting actress of the film. Yoshitaka Yuriko, humbly known as Yuririn by her fans, is one of Japan’s top actresses. She belongs to Amuse, Inc., the same agency as Miura Haruma (三浦春馬) and Sato Takeru (佐藤健).
Tokyo Tarareba Musume replaced Ishihara Satomi’s (石原さとみ) drama, Jimi ni Sugoi! Koetsu Garu Kono Etsuko (地味にスゴイ！校閲ガール河野悦子) and started airing in January 2017.
The drama is based on the josei manga with the same title by Higashimura Akiko (東村アキコ). Yoshitaka Yuriko will play the lead character named Kamata Rinko (鎌田倫子), a young woman who is based in Tokyo and is currently an unsuccessful screenwriter. In the drama series, Kamata Rinko is friends with two more women named Kaori (香) and Koyuki (小雪), who are young but don’t have love lives and have unsuccessful careers. They often hang out to talk about “what-if” scenarios in which they fantasize about how could their lives could be.
Rinko wakes up one day and decides that she will find the man of her dreams and get married before the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Furthermore, the manga of Tokyo Tarareba Musume, which started on March 24, 2014, is ongoing.
“I was laughing when I read the manga. There are lots of painful moments in that touched my heart. It’s a wonderful piece of work that anyone can relate to. I will play as Kamata Rinko who is single, has no boyfriend and has no stable work. I’m 28, but my acquaintances are already married and already became moms. I thought “we are already old!” at one point. I always have a close relationship with my friends and we grew older at the same time. We have come to the age of what-ifs and girls-only gatherings, which is similar to Rinko. I wish happiness for Rinko while I also cry, laugh, struggle and enjoy while I play for this drama. Please look forward to watching it!”

According to the tabloid magazine FRIDAY, Yoshitaka Yuriko was seeing KANJANI8’s Okura Tadayoshi (関ジャニ∞ 大倉忠義). The rumor first surfaced in July 2016.
The magazine reported that the couple had a vacation in Bali, Indonesia. They were seen at Narita International Airport (成田国際空港) when they came back from Bali. Moreover, the two were reported to be leaving Japan on October 19 2016 and they went back after two nights. After going to airport procedures, they were seen getting into a van driven by another man.
Yoshitaka got out of the van after and was seen taking a taxi towards Okura’s apartment. In addition, the magazine also approached Okura’s family and asked if they want to meet Yoshitaka. Apparently, they said yes. However, according to an entertainment reporter, Okura denied his romantic relationship with Yoshitaka and said that they were just friends.
I first learned about Yoshitaka Yuriko when I watched the drama series Tokyo Dogs and I found her really cute in that drama. I haven’t watched Yuririn’s breakthrough film Snakes and Earrings so I’m pretty curious about that film.
I was able to watch her again in Gantz and Watashi ga Renai Dekinai Riyuu. What’s more, I found her role in Bokura ga Ita really touching. I also watched her film Yokomichi Yonosuke and cried my eyes out. The film is really moving! Her recent work is an NHK morning drama entitled Hanako to Anne. I can’t wait to watch her again in her new drama series!
