The Force is strong within the Mori Towers’ newly renovated Sky View Observation Deck in Roppongi Hills. Situated on the 52nd floor, the exhibition towers offers a spectacular and panoramic view of Tokyo with all of it’s landmarks including Tokyo Tower, especially on a clear spring day. The Mori Tower seems to be a fitting space for the Star Wars world exhibition.
The exhibition contains more than 100 costumes, video, actual props used in the movie, along with Artwork never have been seen before by the public. They were handpicked by George Lucas himself and brought to Japan from the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art. Entitled “Visions” it shows behind the scenes schematics, set pieces and even original costumes worn by the cast spanning the whole 6 movie Star Wars franchise.
At the center of the exhibition, you can find the Death Star with Darth Vader where you are surrounded by stormtroopers. A perfect photo if you want to try out your Jedi skills (photo souvenirs are sold at the exhibit itself). You can also stamp your own personalized gold/silver commemorative coin or use it as a keychain for a nominal fee with the admission fees.
There are walls of artwork and scale models that was used in the movie. The props include light sabers and phasers used. It is impressive to see the actual costumes and how small Carrie Fisher was (aka Princess Leia).
Admission fees are as noted below. And the place of the exhibition is easily accessible thru the metro at the Roppongi station. It may be easier during the weekdays. The exhibition itself is opened from 4/29/15 until 6/28/15.
After going around in the exhibition, There is a gift shop after inside the museum, where you can buy your favorite souvenir. For example a collection of star wars kokeshi dolls. Who doesn’t want a Yoda one?. Such an exhibition is popular among children as well adults in Japan.
Believe my own experience, you would not regret to follow the words of a wise sensei – “Go now! You must!”
