Japan is an awesome place for female travelers. It is safer and easier to explore than other countries around the world. There’s no need to worry about the people as they are nice and are always willing to help out. If you’re a woman and going on a solo travel to Sapporo (札幌), you can even make a trip to a bar on your own. There are some recommended bars in the area which are comfortable for women to visit. I will be introducing three of them.
Bar Yamazaki was owned by Tatsuro Yamazaki (山崎達郎) who was the oldest bar tender at work in Japan until November 2016 when he sadly passed away. The 96-year-old lovely old gentleman was knowledgeable about alcohol culture and won several cocktail competitions, both domestically and internationally. His expertise even earned him a place in the Guinness World Records. His legend lives on at his bar after he always served guests with the utmost respect and hospitality so they can have a wonderful and enjoyable bar experience.
The atmosphere here is relaxing and soothing, which is perfect for ladies who just want to chill. There are over 200 cocktails you can choose from with prices ranging from 850 yen to 1600 yen or more. It is open from Monday to Saturday from 6:00 pm to 12:30 am. Take note that there is a seat charge of 1,000 yen, consumption tax is 8% and service charge is 10%.
Bar Maduro is a nice bar serving several ladies’ cocktails in Hokkaido (北海道). It first opened in 2010 and was visited by many locals. It is now popular among foreign people especially women who like nicely chilled beer or cocktails made from seasonal ingredients. The bar also offers different snacks or meals to go with the drink, all of which are prepared in front of you.
The bar is relaxing and is a good entertainment area for couples. It has very beautiful scenery and a clear night view. If you come as a big group, it may be best to contact the bar in advance to make a reservation as there are only 28 seats available. Business hours are from 5:00 pm to 2:00 am. Estimated money spent by visitors per visit is 3,000 yen.
This is a famous bar for people who love music and space. There is live music performed by a pianist which makes the whole surrounding calming. The bar highly recommends that their customers try their alcoholic and non-alcoholic liquors. You’ll be asked for your preference first before being served up the drink that suits your taste. This is definitely a good place for women to feel at ease.
Suntory Bar Stylish D also serves excellent confectionery and meals which are homemade and considered representative works. The bar has piano seats suitable for 37 guests. These have been designed to look like a grand piano. A popular seating place is by the large window glass where you can see a beautiful image of the outside world. It is also possible to hold banquets and events at the bar, including wedding ceremonies and other elegant parties.
Business hours are from 6:00 pm to 3:00 am Monday to Saturday and 6:00 pm to 1:00 am on Sundays and public holidays.
Going to a bar at night in Sapporo doesn’t necessarily mean you have to turn up in a big group. Even as a woman, you can enjoy the city’s nightlife alone. These three bars will make sure that your bar experience will not only be enjoyable but also safe. So why not give these places a try?
