TOKYO ART CITY by NAKED is a limited time exhibit that will take place at the Gallery AaMo (ギャラリー アーモ) at Tokyo Dome City (東京ドームシティ) from June 16 until September 3, 2017. TOKYO ART CITY was first showcased in the winter of 2016 in Shibuya (渋谷), and thanks to the positive remarks gained by the event, it’s coming back once again, but this time with a bigger bang to offer.

Around 100 projectors will be used for projection mapping and there will be around 250 scale models representing the popular landmarks located all over Tokyo. These landmarks include the famous shopping districts Shinjuku (新宿) and Shibuya, the artificial island Odaiba (お台場), Tokyo Tower (東京タワー) and Tokyo Dome (東京ドーム), the Electric Town Akihabara (秋葉原電気街), Tokyo Station (東京駅) and the Tokyo National Museum (東京国立博物館); and will be using the latest lighting and video technology.

You’re not just there to see the city, you can interact with it, too! You can walk between the buildings, or opt to go up the 4.3-meter tall Tokyo Tower model and view the exhibit from its observatory deck. You can also draw on the wall of one of Shibuya’s buildings using your hands.
Aside from that, two popular Japanese characters, Godzilla (ゴジラ) and Pac-Man (パックマン), will be waiting for you at the Kabukicho (歌舞伎町) area of the exhibit. The projection mapping and smoke effects will surely give you an experience you’ll truly enjoy. But wait, there’s more! There will also be a workshop available for parents and their children to enjoy together, and an entertainment collaboration with artists to bring more fun to your visit.
Running for at least three months, TOKYO ART CITY is open all week from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM from June 16 to July 21, 2017, and from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM from July 22 to September 3, 2017. Admission tickets are 1,600 yen for adults, 1,400 yen for junior high school to college students, 900 yen for elementary school students, and free for pre-school and under.
The exhibit makes the city an art, and the best way to see it is to experience it firsthand. Now if you’re in Tokyo, bring your family or friends with you and make sure to head to Tokyo Dome City’s Gallery AaMo to check out this limited time event!
