The shop’s name “Coisof” comes from the fact that it is a combination of the Japanese words “love” and “richness.” It is related to soft romantic love which is evident in the shop’s soft-serve ice cream! The shop is fairly new, having opened in August 2017. It is located along the side street of Takeshita in Harajuku.
The ice cream they serve is popular for its colorful toppings (oiri) that make everything bubbly. An “oiri” is a traditional soft candy ball that originated from Kagawa Prefecture. It has a very cute and lovely appearance which makes it a great topping for ice cream! It also tastes fluffy and sweet.
The original colors of oiri are red and white. Nowadays, they can be seen in a multitude of colors (pink, yellow, green and purple). As of 2017, Coisof’s soft-serve ice cream comes in two flavors, namely black sesame and white sesame. You can also order a mixture of both if you like! They look ‘instalicious’, and that’s why many people come to this shop to take loads of brilliant pictures!
The shop is open from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily, so there are plenty of opportunities to check it out!
Another place to buy kawaii ice cream is Eddy’s Ice Cream, which is located on the first floor of a pink building in Ura-Harajuku. It is just a 10-minute walk from Harajuku Station on the JR Line. This ice cream shop is said to have been booming recently owing to its colorful and cute ice cream creations.
The shop’s interior is very attractive. It is painted in pink and has gorgeous details. The shop serves many different kinds of ice cream. You can even personalize your very own ice cream creation. The ice cream menu includes the following: American (800 yen), Ms. Ribbon (1,000 yen), Cat (1,000 yen), Unicorn (1,200 yen), Flamingo, (1,200 yen), Candy (800 yen), Lovely (900 yen) and Kiss me (1,400 yen). You can choose between two types of ice creams: vanilla and strawberry. You can also have a mixture of both.
Take note of the following Eddy toppings: Ribbon (300 yen), Star (100 yen), Candy (200 yen), Nikukyu (200 yen), Plant Tree (200 yen), Lip (200 yen), Cat (300 yen), Alphabet (50 yen), Flamingo (300 yen), Unicorn (300 yen), Love (300 yen), Heart Glasses (300 yen) and Heart Arch (400 yen). These toppings will help you make your very own kawaii ice cream! You are also provided with optional extra chocolate syrup for added flavor!
The place is usually crowded so it’s best to come early in the morning if you can! The shop is open from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily.
There’s nothing more kawaii than these two ice cream shops serving adorable scoops in Harajuku. They’re inviting everyone to enjoy a different way of eating ice cream where you get excited in choosing your toppings. You also get to share your personalized ice cream online with your friends!
