It is not impossible to find kid-friendly places in Japan’s capital city. Besides having kid-friendly parks and historical sites, there are also kid-friendly cafes where you can spend some quality time with your children. If you ever find yourself exhausted after a long day of shopping with your kids, hang out and rest at these two kid-friendly cafes in Tokyo!
ALL DAY HOME, formerly known as Skip Kids Cafe, is a cafe that stands up to its name – it’s like spending all day at home. It was opened by Satoshi Fujishiro in 2004 to cater to mothers and their children.
ALL DAY HOME’s Musashikoyama branch has a playroom facility where kids can freely run and play all day long. However, it is only allowed for children up to 6 years of age. Children who are over 8 years old can enter the cafe but are not allowed in the playroom. Admission fee for kids is 600 yen, while those who are less than a year old get a 400-yen discount.
Other than the playroom, the cafe has a nursing room, a diaper changing room, and lavatories for kids. There are also nursery teachers who are licensed to take care of your kids so you can leave them behind for a while if you really have to.
ALL DAY HOME has a seating capacity of 94. They have Japanese and English menus available, and many of their dishes are suitable for kids. They also offer organic baby food for infants. The cafe is open from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM on Sundays to Thursdays, and from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM on Fridays and Saturdays.
Polar Bear Café was inspired by an actual Japanese manga by Aloha Higa entitled, Shirokuma Cafe, where the main character is a polar bear. If you come with your kids, you can let them play in the Kid’s Room. The room has a lot of children’s toys and books that can entertain them.
Their food and drinks are also associated with the manga and are all adorable-looking. You can try original dishes such as Mama Panda Curry, Shirokuma-kun’s Variation Plate, Shirokuma-kun’s Fried Salmon Sandwich, Panda-kun’s Basil Chicken Plate, and Mei Mei Curry. Elementary students and younger children can also order the Kid’s Plate which includes a burger patty, nuggets, gratin, fried shrimp, and a cute cookie for 600 yen. You can also have colorful drinks such as Penguin-san Drink, Rinrin Drink, Sasako-san Drink, Panda Kun’s Matcha Latte, and many more!
There are photo spots where you can take picture-perfect memorabilia, too. The cafe is open all year round from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM (last order at 9:00 PM) except on New Year holidays.
These two kid-friendly cafes in Tokyo are perfect for spending some time with your children! They are equipped with the necessary facilities, foods, and drinks that will definitely keep kids entertained.
