Once in a while, we travel to put our minds at ease and to take a break from our busy lives. One of the factors to consider when planning a trip is the season or weather condition in your destination. There are already many articles about why Japan is one of the best places to visit during the fall or autumn season, and they mostly showcase the beauty of the country when the color of the leaves changes before withering away. And of course, a good place in the country to experience this is in Kyoto.
Kyoto is a very famous travel destination in Japan among locals and foreigners alike. Not only because it is the former capital of the country, nor because you can still see the traditions of Japan as well as its old structures and houses, but because it possesses an unexplainable beauty. Here are three spots where you can experience the best of fall in Kyoto!
Don’t get me wrong, guys. Kinkaku-ji Temple, or the Golden Pavilion, is already dashing on its own but when you visit this place during autumn, it becomes even more exquisite. The temple’s golden color radiates more against the autumn colors of its surroundings. And when you walk around the area, it makes you feel as if you are royalty, admiring the beauty of your palace and all that surrounds it.
Before showing you the actual Rock Garden, here’s the path leading to it. Doesn’t it look amazing?
Now, what is it about the Rock Garden that will you make you feel at peace, you ask? If you stare closely at the garden, for some reason, you will suddenly feel as if all the emptiness, heartaches, hardships, troubles, and sadness within you are coming out. The plainness and simplicity of the garden will seem like a black hole sucking all the negative emotions in. That, combined with the red and yellow colors of dry leaves falling from the trees. You may or may not find the answer you’re looking for here, but at least, somehow, it will make you feel “free.”
If your main goal is to see and feel the fall season, head to Hozugawa River in Arashiyama. Here, the changing colors of the trees are very visible. Plus, you can enjoy the view while having a picnic or going on a boat ride.
There are actually lots of lovely places to visit during the autumn season in Japan, but nothing beats the Kyoto area in showcasing the best features of this season. Make sure to include these three spots in your itinerary!
