Hi,

I have a question, as I am visiting Japan in a few days, as part of my travels. I am traveling around the world for quite a few months so im really looking to do Tokyo on a budget!

I know it can be a pricy city, so I just wondered if anyone had any good recommendations for cheap sushi restaurants i could try in the city? I have looked at guidebooks etc but most of them seem quite expensive. also, if anyone has recommendations for other cheap and fairly central Japanese cuisines i could try, that would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi Tabby,

Im traveling on a budget myself and I can highly recommend a place in Shibuya called Genki Sushi- its right in the center of town and has decent quality sushi and a great selection, for as little as 100 yen a piece!

Its not fine dining or the best sushi you’ll ever have, but its fresh, cheap, and theres lots to choose from! If you go, definitely try their tempura shrimp maki!

Hope this helps ;) happy travels

Hello! Yes, there are many chain sushi restaurants you can find in Tokyo. They are usually very affordable and very cheap. Aside Genki Sushi, there is also Kurazushi, Nemuro Hanamaru, etc. They have sushi 100 yen per plate. Enjoy sushi!!! I love sushi too!!!
