Many people know that Matsujun has starred in TV shows and gained fame with Arashi with hits such as “Monster,” “Love So Sweet,” and “Furusato,” but here are some interesting facts you might not have known about him.

Matsujun initially became interested in applying for Johnny & Associates because his older sister, Megumi, who was a huge fan of KinKi Kids. When Megumi got married, Arashi attended her wedding and performed for the happy couple.
Matsujun’s family was quite wealthy even before Jun found fame, and high-quality eggs from their farm are exported to the United States and Europe. A single egg from the Matsumoto family can cost up to 500 yen!
Matsujun loves rock climbing, bungee jumping, skydiving, and surfing. When he isn’t acting, he likes to chase danger and heights.
Before joining Arashi, Matsujun was in a group called “MAIN” with Ikuta Toma, Ninomiya Kazunari, and Aiba Masaki. Arashi later debuted in 1999.
Matsujun’s blood type is A-, or rhesus negative, which is pretty rare as blood types go.
He has a reputation of getting teary-eyed when he watches movies. When he went to see Forrest Gump at the cinema with his family, he ran out of the theater to cry. When he reread the Hana Yori Dango manga after getting the part as Domyoji Tsukasa, he identified with the character and the story made him cry.
Matsujun prefers wine to Japanese sake or beer, and he even has a wine cellar in his house.
When he was a child, Matsujun used to have large and protruding front teeth. These were “corrected” early on, however, giving him the pearly whites we can see in his signature smile now.
Although Matsujun can’t speak any English at all, he enjoys watching Western movies and claims to be a huge fan of Harry Potter, much to fans’ delight.
