Have Some Winter Fun at the Newest Ski Resort in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan!

  • Enjoy the snow and the great outdoors by skiing at the newest ski resort in Japan this winter! There are currently 16 ski resorts in Hyogo Prefecture. After 14 years, the newest ski resort opened in December 2017 in the town of Kamikawa in the Kanzaki District – the Mineyama Kogen Resort White Peak! Check it out!

    Courses and Lessons

    The Mineyama Kogen Resort White Peak has three pistes or ski trails to choose from. The Center Course has a peak height of 1,170 meters, followed by the West Course at 937 meters, and the South Course at 862 meters.     If it is your first time skiing, you can also take skiing lessons at the Mineyama Ski Academy! There are lessons for kids ages 3 to 12 years old and adults above 12 years old. There are different lessons available which can be taken in 90 minutes or 180 minutes per lesson. There are three sessions per day at 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM, 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM, and 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM. Slots are available on a first-come-first-served basis. Private lessons can also be arranged for families, kids, and groups. Ski lessons are also available in English.

    Resort Facilities

    There are two chairlifts at the resort. One is the Mountain Line which can bring you up to 758 meters and is closer to the Center and West Course, while the other lift is the Forest Line with its peak at 698 meters and is closer to the South Course.

    The four-hour ticket for the lifts costs 2,500 yen on weekdays and 3,000 yen on weekends and holidays for adults, and costs 1,200 yen on weekdays and 1,700 yen on weekends and holidays for children below 15 years old and senior adults 55 years old and above. This ticket can be used anytime from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM but can be as early as 8:00 AM on holidays. There is also a six-hour ticket option and night tickets for four and six hours. Night tickets can be used from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM. One-day tickets are valid anytime from 8:30 AM to 11:00 PM.

    Kids have an exclusive section just for them at Karmin Park, which is open from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Entrance fee costs 1,000 yen on any day.

    At Peak’s Village, you can recharge your energy by eating delicious meals at Mineyama Restaurant. They offer a variety of food ranging from snacks such as burgers and pizza, noodles such as udon and ramen, and rice meals such as rice bowls and curry. You can also find souvenirs at Peak’s Shop.

    Relax after a day of skiing at the nearby Mineyama Kogen Hotel RelaXia. Other outdoor activities you can do at the hotel include stargazing and playing tennis or golf.

    Getting There

    The Mineyama Kogen Resort White Peak is a 25-minute taxi ride from the JR Teramae Station (寺前駅) on the JR West Bantan Line. A shuttle service is also available from this station with a one-way fare costing 500 yen for adults and 300 yen for children.
