  • The happiest place in Japan is celebrating its 35th anniversary this 2018 and it will be a whole year of celebration and fun for Disney fans at Tokyo Disney Resort. Kicking off on April 15, 2018, right until March 25, 2019, Tokyo Disney has a plethora of festivities and events lined up for people of all ages to mark this milestone year!

    For the uninitiated, here are some fun facts about Tokyo Disney Resort to chew on. Tokyo Disneyland opened its gates on April 15, 1983, and developed from a single theme park to a resort that now includes Tokyo DisneySea, four Disney Hotels, and so much more.

    1. “Dreaming Up!” Daytime Parade

    Starting from April 15, 2018

    Catch the premiere of Tokyo Disney’s grand daytime parade themed “Dreaming Up!” With 13 floats and 140 performers, come witness this massive feat of a performance as Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and over 50 other Disney characters set you down on the path to a world of fantasy and imagination. For the first time ever, Baymax and Hiro will be joining the roster of Disney Friends during this 45-minute-long parade.

    The “Dreaming Up!” Daytime Parade takes place twice a day along the Parade Route.

    2. “Celebrate! Tokyo Disneyland” Night Show

    Starting from July 10, 2018

    Summer in Tokyo Disneyland enters with a high-tech style as the park launches a new nighttime spectacular performance with the aid of state-of-the-art projection technology, lasers, water cannons, and more. In its 35 years of existence, the park has never experienced a performance on a grander scale than this. Cinderella Castle takes center stage in this grand affair as Mickey Mouse leads guests on a musical journey.

    The show happens twice a night and lasts for about 15 minutes so be sure to time your visit properly.

    3. “Let’s Party Gras” Show

    Starting from July 10, 2018

    Follow Donald Duck and José Carioca to New Orleans after traveling the world where they plan to hold a “Party Gras” for their Disney Friends! Held at the Theatre Orleans in Adventureland, this show is featured four to five times a day, for about 25 minutes each.

    Expect to see four elements of a successful “Party Gras” as the event combines great location, fun music, beautiful costumes, and lively dancing. Also throughout the 35th anniversary period, there will be a special theme song and colorful confetti to add to the excitement.

    4. “it’s a small world” Reopening

    On April 15, 2018

    All Disney fans would know the nostalgic tune of “It’s a Small World.” Taking a step back to its core, Tokyo Disneyland continues to impress fans with the reopening of its “it’s a small world” attraction. Look forward to 40 new figures from Disney films through a voyage beginning in Europe and on to Asia, Africa, Central America, and the islands of the South Pacific.

    5. Celebration Street

    Starting from April 15, 2018

    It’s a party all year round during Tokyo Disney’s anniversary year as World Bazaar’s Main Street in Disneyland is transformed into Celebration Street. The main attraction is Celebration Tower, a 10-meter-tall monument featuring nine Mickey Mouse statues, all dressed differently to depict different eras in the history of Tokyo Disney Resort.

    During the day, the theme song of the anniversary will play in Celebration Street, while at night, the tower and the ceiling will be illuminated in a multitude of colors.

    There are tons of other events and attractions lined up for the rest of 2018 right up to March 2019 for visitors to catch and enjoy.
