    1. Hotel New Otani Makuhari SWEETS COLLECTION 2018

    Hotel New Otani Makuhari in Mihama, Chiba presents their SWEETS COLLECTION 2018 this May 3, 2018! Indulge your sweet tooth with about 40 different sweets that will be served buffet style.

    Make sure to try the super sweet series of Patisserie SATSUKI created by pastry chef Shinsuke Nakajima. They are truly delectable and nutritious as they are made from the finest ingredients. Some of the sweets usually cost 3,000 yen a piece! One of which is the Extra Super Melon Shortcake that is regularly sold at 3,800 yen. Another cake you should not miss is the Super Chocolate Shortcake, which uses Colombian Santander chocolate for a rich chocolate flavor. This usually comes at 1,550 yen a piece.

    The SWEETS COLLECTION 2018 will also include the new edo SWEETS line-up, which is a fusion of Japanese and Western flavors. It is also inspired by images and materials that can only be found in Japan such as Kyoto’s Uji matcha and Hokkaido’s bamboo poetry. Some of the cakes in the edo SWEETS series are the edo Daimon Shortcake and the edo Matcha Roll.

    The classic favorite Napoleon Pie, original sandwiches, and fresh salads sold exclusively at Hotel New Otani will also be made available at the SWEETS COLLECTION 2018.


    The hotel offers premium seats located near the buffet table for easier access. Guests who avail the premium seat will also be allowed to enter the venue 20 minutes earlier so they can enjoy a total of 110 minutes at the buffet. For adults, the limited premium seats cost 7,500 yen each and regular seats are at 6,000 yen each. Children can also enjoy the buffet at 3,500 yen for elementary school students and 2,500 yen for children over 4 years old. These rates are already inclusive of tax and service charge.

    2. Kawasaki Nikko Hotel Golden Week Sweets Buffet

    Kawasaki Nikko Hotel in Kawasaki, Kanagawa offers its Golden Week Sweets Buffet for four days from May 3 to 6, 2018! The sweets are made with ingredients from all over Japan selected by pastry chefs; among them are Aomori’s apples, Fukuoka’s Amaou strawberries, and Kanagawa’s Ashigara tea and Shonan Gold citrus. About 30 kinds of sweets, including 20 kinds of cakes, and about 6 types of snacks will be served during the buffet.

    There will also be a demonstration on making baked sweets such as crepes and cookies. A teppanyaki corner will have light snacks such as okonomiyaki mixed with Western ingredients like mozzarella cheese.


    The Golden Week Sweets Buffet will be held at the hotel’s 10th-floor cafe restaurant, Natura, from 3:00 to 5:00 in the afternoon.

    Seats for the buffet cost 4,000 yen for adults, 2,500 yen for elementary school students, and 1,000 yen for children over 3 years old. Rates are inclusive of consumption tax and service charge.
