  • Have you been dreaming of sightseeing around Tokyo but have no idea where to go? Don’t worry, there are tour guides who can help you. Mind you, these are for free! These are usually individuals who volunteer to guide foreign tourists either for practicing the English Language or just for the fun of it.

    Tokyo Free Walking Tour


    This is a volunteer association who guide foreign people in doing activities in Tokyo. The tour guides are non-professional volunteers. The guided tour starts from Tokyo station and is centered around the East Garden of the Imperial Palace. English is mainly used on the tour. Since it’s a walking tour, you definitely have to walk! You’ll be learning about the culture and history of Tokyo at the same time. The tour is conducted every Saturday the entire year-round, except on the following dates: December 28-31 and January 1-3.


    Do you want to join the tour? Don’t worry, reservation is not necessary. You can immediately go to Marunouchi Central Gate following the scheduled time. Since it’s a free tour, you can just hop off anytime you want. The association is also ready to accept donations if you like.

    Capital Tokyo West SGG Club


    For those who’re interested in more expert tour guides, the Capital Tokyo West SGG Club might suit you. This consist of both young and old people who can speak English, French or Italian. You’ll learn more about Tokyo’s traditional and fashionable shopping districts, facilities such as temples, shrines, and other historical buildings.

    Do you want to join the tour? You need to submit an application form for you to be scheduled. This will also tell you the necessary procedures. You can also visit their office to schedule the tour. They are open from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM, seven days a week. During the tour, remember to bring some pocket money for food and several admissions to some facilities as well as for your lunch.
