Are you a fan of premium beef but not sure if it’s worth the money to splurge it all at pricey fine-dining restaurants? Well, fear not as there is a place which would be able to satisfy your cravings and at the same time not burn a huge hole in your pocket: Steak Land Kobe!
As a Malaysian, premium beef (like that in Kobe) in my country can cost quite a lot, with price as high as 300 Ringgit (around 8500 yen) for about 100 grams. Needless to say, it was a dream come true for me when I was able to find an awesome dining outlet in Kobe itself. Located in Hyogo Prefecture, Chuo Ward, Steak Land is pretty easy to locate and is always packed full with locals and tourists alike.
Steak Land Kobe is open daily from 11:00 am to 10:00 pm and if you’re thinking of getting your lunch there, it’s best to be there before the store opens as it’s very common to see a line forming as early as 10:00 am.
I was really lucky during my visit there because I only spent 30 minutes in line before I was being ushered in and served by their friendly waiter. The restaurant is not very large since it is probably able to fit a total of 20-25 people at a time. What makes it very special, however, is that you will be seated around the huge grill where you can see the cook prepare your food right before your eyes!
My partner and I wasted no time in ordering our meals. Luckily, we managed to take a glimpse of the raw beef, with its superb marbling. before they start to cook it.
The beef is priced depending on the different choices available. Not being able to read Japanese did not stop us from choosing our delicious set meal, which cost us 2,880 yen per person. This set meal comes together with a bowl of warm Japanese rice, and a choice of chilled orange juice or hot coffee.
It was indeed the best beef I have ever tasted and I would definitely recommend anyone to give it a try! A big thumbs up for the great melt-in-your-mouth premium beef experience!
