Chocolate is a popular sweet treat served up all over the world. In Japan, it’s no different. If you find yourself in Shibuya, check out the Cacao Store. As with anything, Japan likes to go all out and this newly opened storefront is no exception. Whether you’d like to eat, drink, or bathe in your chocolate at home, there are options for everyone.
You’ll find this storefront located on a tiny street right around the corner from Yoyogi-Hachiman and Yoyogi-Koen stations and just minutes from Shinjuku and Yoyogi Park. Outside, the store lists special menu items they’re featuring and bar time drinks. As you walk inside you’ll be greeted by the friendly staff. First, make your way to the back of the store to sit down and order a treat. There will be plenty of time to shop later.
With a two-page menu, it’s hard to choose what to order. Everything looks delicious! The menu consists of everything from hot chocolate and wine to chocolate fondue. I ended up choosing the chocolate toast. This is one of their most popular items. The toast is crunchy and the dark chocolate bar is perfectly melted so that it still holds its texture.
This is a decadent treat you don’t want to miss! As you’re eating don’t forget to check out the workers grinding the fresh cacao. It’s a neat educational experience to see all of the machines used in the chocolate making process.
After you’ve finished eating, make your way to the front of the store to browse the items they have for sale. There are chocolate bars from places like Peru and Vietnam and even specialty chocolate teas. The chocolate bar flavors range from rich dark chocolate to milkier varieties and even some with fruit or nuts. If you don’t want the calories but still would like to indulge, there’s even chocolate shampoo!
Whether you’re just passing by or decide to take a trip, the CACAO Store is a must see. Let yourself indulge and take home some treats for your friends and family. At this store, there’s a product for everyone!
