  • Nara is known as the spiritual home of the Japanese. But do you know that it is also famed for its culinary cuisine? As one of the most popular tourist destinations, many restaurants have opened up in the place. Below are some of the food shops I recommend you to try in Nara.

    Sakura Burger

Sakura Burger is a burger shop located across Kintetsu Nara Station. It is one of the best places to go for a burger in Nara though the place is also serving hot sandwiches and hot dogs. The owner loved burgers as a kid and thought of building one in Nara. Their most famous burger is “Sakura Burger.” It is made of homemade thick bacon and juicy 100% beef flavored with salt, pepper and tartar salt. You can add ketchup or mustard as you like and choose a variety of toppings (cheese, chili, baked egg, etc.)

There are so many types of burgers available: Avocado Burger, Hamburger, Chili Burger, Cheese Burger and Pass Burger; all served with french fries. Plus, you can also build your own burger as you like.

    Maguro Koya Nara

Maguro Koya is located in a small district which is directly north of Kintetsu Nara Station. It has been serving delicious maguro tuna done in variety of ways which has become a big hit in the area. The small restaurant concentrates on one item, maguro. They do it so well that many foreign guests make a reservation. Due to its popularity, the menu was written in English. There are extremely good value meals to choose from including rice, pickles, miso soup and maguro done however you like it: fried, boiled in soy sauce or in skewers.
