In recent years, animal themed cafes in Japan became such a huge hit that there are now a large variety of these shops all across the country. These cafes do not only offer your regular cup of coffee for the day but also, a friendly companion to join you as well!
But if you were to choose which animal companion you would like to have beside you at these cafes, surely the popular owls are the most magical and breath-taking animal there would be. And if you are one of those people who is interested in experiencing and getting to know more of these beautiful animals, then you should check out Kamakura Fukurou No Mori!
The Kamakura Fukurou No Mori or also called Kamakura Owl’s Forest is an owl park that recreates the natural habitat of the feathered animals. This special park is located in the popular shopping street district of Komachi-doori, which is just around a 5-minute walk from the station.
Visitors to the Kamakura Owl Forest are given a brief explanation by the staff about what to do and not to do inside the park. Visitors are able to interact with the owls and you can pet their backs and heads provided you use the back of your hand instead of your palm. There are also some owls who you can’t interact with because they are new to the park. Don’t worry, though, you’ll know which ones they are as they have a sticker indication on them.
If you thought Hedwig from Harry Potter was cool in the films, wouldn’t you be happy if you get to see an owl like her up close? Admission fee to Kamakura Owl’s Forest is ￥600 for adults and ￥300 for grade school children and below. They are open from 10 am until 5:30 pm every day, so make sure you head their way to check the owls there!
