Cirque du Soleil and Odaiba? Sounds Like A Perfect Match! See ”Totem” in Tokyo!

  • I remember the first time I went to Odaiba it was eye opening. There were so many activities to do in one area! From multiple shopping malls, ferris wheels to an amazing onsen, it’s like a fun playground for adults!

For those who want to try something new, the touring performance of Cirque du Soleil has found it’s temporary home in Odaiba’s playground. Perfect for adults that are just kids at heart. This is quite a treat as usually they are mainly found in the United States with some permanent shows in Las Vegas. It is quite a treat to have their touring show here in our backyard. Welcome to Totem!

The show’s story line shows the global evolution of humanity which appropriately draws music from different instruments and rhythms from around the world ranging from jungle themes, flamenco, and Native American music to tell the narrative which the musicians sing during the show.

Not only does the show use evocative music, but the performers themselves are quite impressive. The music is available for sale on their website and at the arena itself. The acts include a wide variety of performers including gymnasts, Native American hoop dancers, trapeze and even roller skating and foot juggling! One cannot help but be amazed by all their feats. Even better is that all of this is easily accessible from Tokyo itself. You can’t miss it with the big yellow and blue tent setting up shop in the midst of Odaiba. It is definitely a treat for all the senses.
