  • Do you love karaoke? Do you love drinking? Do you want to make new friends and have a great night out? Then I have the perfect place for you to visit – Barcode Kyoto!

Barcode is located right in the heart of Kyoto’s nightlife district. It’s a big, bright bar that welcomes people from all over the world. They have karaoke every night, and during weekends there is a DJ set that begins when everyone starts dancing! The karaoke here is a great mix of Japanese and Western styles. Everyone is singing together, sharing microphones and belting out their favorites, but there is no MC organizing things. Everyone types their songs into machines and waits for them to come up on the system’s screen. They have a huge selection of both Japanese and English songs, so you can sing to your heart’s content!

They also have a number of fun bar games for you to enjoy, such as the popular ‘pie face game’, as well as wigs, glasses, and masks to wear, and musical instruments to shake along with the karaoke!

    The Community

The staff that runs Barcode is one of the friendliest staff you will ever meet. They always welcome you to the bar in both English and Japanese, and remember your name – and the drinks you order! One of the special things about these guys is that they go the extra mile and organize special events and parties for the whole community. In the summer, they hold BBQ parties with food provided and all you can drink, and in the spring, they hold traditional hanami parties with fun drinking games. These events mean that you can meet lots of different people who all enjoy having a great time together and love Barcode!

The bar is pretty easy to find if you know where Kiyamachi is (the main drinking street): you just need to turn off that road and you’ll be able to find it! The bar is open every night from 8 pm until the last person goes home – so you can drink as much as you want and dance and sing the night away!
