  • Since a few years it is possible to rent all kinds of things as well as animals and humans in Japan. Some of them were for example rentable boyfriends or girlfriends. This system has actually expanded, and it now covers a myriad of things. And now there is something new again, there is a rent-a-goat service for whatever purpose or reason you have for wanting to spend time with a goat. It may sound bizarre but it is already happening! How It Started

This is actually not the first time it is possible to rent goats in Japan. Amazon also used to rent goats to manicure the grounds in its Distribution Center in Gifu Prefecture. Google is one of the other companies that has rented goats to keep the grass near their headquarters neatly trimmed.

Now DMM, a Japanese Online Rental Service, has started including goats in their rental services. Just in case you wouldn’t know why you would want a goat for a (temporary) companion, they have helpfully provided us with several reasons why someone would rent a goat. For example, goats are eco-friendly weed killers who can tidy up any outdoor space, as they really love eating all kinds of grasses. It’s an economical way to keep your lawn tidy compared to machines, and as an added bonus the goats can make you feel relaxed like any pet can!
