    Professional Kabuki Actors

Kabuki is an internationally well-known dance-drama. Each individual performer or actor in a kabuki play is able to act, sing, and dance. They also come with a stage name which, for the most part, has been passed down from one generation to the next. Every actor has to live up to that name by embodying the style, spirit, and skill of the actor whom the name originated from. Thus, it is always a great honor when a person successfully becomes a professional kabuki actor.

    Take lessons at Kabuki Taro

Kabuki Taro is providing an amazing opportunity for everyone to go through a true kabuki experience. Each participant will endure 6 months of weekly training, along with their fellow kabuki classmates, under the supervision and wise instruction of Shijurou Tachibana, a profound kabuki actor. There are two plays to choose from: “Sugawara Denju Tenarai Kagami” (Fridays) and “Aoto Zōshi Hana no Nishiki-e” (Saturdays).

    How much will it cost?

Training starts in July 2016 and runs until February 2017. Prices vary depending on the role you would like to play but it is definitely not cheap, with prices ranging from 100,000 yen (890 USD) to 1,300,000 yen (11,570 USD).
