Check Out This Stylish and Original Hawaiian Cafe in Tokyo

  • If you’re in Japan craving real Hawaiian food, there’s no need to actually go to Hawaii anymore. A cafe called Guy & Jo’s Hawaiian Style Cafe has opened in March 2016, and it serves real Hawaiian dishes in a chic environment with quality service! The restaurant is located on the 10th floor of Tokyu Plaza Ginza that draws around 10 million visitors per year.

    The Café

Guy & Jo’s Hawaiian Style Cafe’s owners actually come from Hilo, Hawaii, and it is totally different from all the other self-proclaimed Hawaiian restaurants. The place is named after its owners, Guy Kaoo and his daughter Jo. Guy Kaoo’s memories stretch back to the Big Island of Hawaii where he spent a lot of time in his grandmother’s Chinese restaurant.

In 1979, he finally opened his own restaurant in Hawi, Hawaii called ‘Sony’s Place’. He spent many years designing menus and creating food. Finally, in December 2012, he was able to open a second restaurant in Hawaii, this time in Hilo. And now he introduced his creations to cater to those with an appetite for Hawaiian fare in Japan, where he is serving incredible portions of local comfort food.

    The Menu

Many dishes served in Tokyo are from its original menu in Hilo, such as Kahlua pork, Salmon and Eggs Benedict, Kahlua Hash (a combination of butter corn and green salad), Brioche French toast, and a 10-inch pile of thick pancakes topped with assorted fruits, creamy Macadamia nuts, or coconut. Pancakes served are either Ginza-style or Hawaiian-style, costing 1,500 and 2,200 yen respectively. Since Ginza is a heavily populated and often visited place in Tokyo, it is one of the best places to be for a new restaurant. It has just the perfect setting in a high-profile location where people are very much into trying new types of foods.

Lunch is served from 11.00 to 14.00, Tea Time is from 14.00 to 17.00, and dinner is served from 17.00 to 23.00. if you want to buy original Guy & Jo’s products such as t-shirts, washcloths, mugs, coffee, tote bags, and so on, you can purchase those at the merchandise store.

Next time you’re in Ginza, take your time and relax while having real Hawaiian dishes at Guy & Jo’s Hawaiian Style Cafe! The various items on the menu have been made to please people from all over the world.
