Enjoy a Healthy Winter Stroll at the Yokohama Night Walk 2017

    What Is the Yokohama Night Walk?

    The YOKOHAMA Night Walk 2017 (YOKOHAMA ナイトウォーク 2017) organized by the Yokohama Sports Association (横浜体育協会) will be held on Saturday, 4 March 2017 in the Minato Mirai area of Yokohama. In case you are wondering if this is an event suited for health freaks or those with an extraordinary level of fitness, fret not, because it is meant to be inclusive and suitable for people of all ages and levels of fitness. It is not a competition nor a race, but rather a walking event for you to explore the area and see what it has to offer while admiring the night lights under the winter sky. As the sun sets earlier during this season, the event begins at 4 pm and will last until 8pm.

    Registration and Start Points

    Registration is to be done on the spot at any of the three starting points between 4 pm and 7 pm. The registration fee is 500 yen per person but is free for children under the age of 5. The three starting points are as follows:

    1. Landmark Plaza 3F Event Space (ランドマークプラザ3Fイベントスペース)
    2. Yokohama Marine Tower (横浜マリンタワー)
    3. Yokohama Stadium (横浜スタジアム)

    There is no fixed route or minimum distance to cover for this event so you can choose to start your evening from any of these three locations at your own convenience, pace, and timing. However, do note that the goal is at Landmark Plaza, so be sure to return here before the event ends at 8 pm.

    What To Expect

    You will receive an event map on arrival pointing out the food and beverage establishments along the way, as well as places of interest offering discounts or privileges which you can check out during your walk. Coupons received on the night can also be used at a later date.

If you check in at more than three of these checkpoints, you can stand to win hotel restaurant vouchers and other prizes when you finish your walk and reach the goal!

    4. Yokohama Marathon Challenge Ticket Draw
    If that’s not already enough to convince you, how about a chance to win a free ticket to the Yokohama Marathon 2017, which will be taking place on 29 October 2017? The “Yokohama Marathon Challenge Ticket (横浜マラソンチャェンジきっぷ)” offers anyone born before 1 April 1999 the chance to take part in a variety of sporting events happening in Yokohama from now until July 2017 to earn three stamps on their tickets. A total of 500 free tickets are up for grabs in this lucky draw. You can get one or two stamps depending on the nature of the sporting event, which include short-distance running, full marathons, cycling, walking and stair-climbing.
