So how about tasting limited edition spring desserts to satisfy your taste buds? Here are three sweets that are as beautiful as the season which you can only sample during this time in Japan!

    1. PABLO’s Berry and Panna Cotta Cheese Tart (パブロのベリーとパンナコッタのチーズタルト)

    Many of you would have already heard about or even tasted PABLO’s famous baked cheese tarts.

    This spring 2017, PABLO will be launching their Berry and Panna Cotta Cheese Tart (automatic translation available) with a diameter of 15 cm, which will only be available between April 1 and April 30 for the price of 2,000 yen (inclusive of tax). Other than the usual cheese tart crust used for their other products, this limited edition cheese tart boasts a unique blend of blueberry jam and custard cream, topped with fresh and slightly sour strawberries and blueberries. What’s more, PABLO’s homemade panna cotta will also be part of the cheese tart’s topping, thus creating a visual treat of vibrant colors for the customers.

    However, do note that this is a limited edition item so there is a risk of it running out of stock even before the end of the promotional period.     Shiseido Parlour will be bringing back its signature item, Floral Strawberry Bavarois, at its Salon de Cafe in Ginza until April 30, 2017. This dish used to be served and was popular when the Toei 7000 series train (都電7000形) carriage was running between Ginza (銀座) and Nihonbashi (日本橋) from 1954 to 1967 with a stop at Ginza 7-Chome, right in front of Shiseido Parlour. As this model will be discontinued from March 2017, Shiseido Parlour decided to modernize the original version of the dessert as part of its goodbye campaign for the train.

    The Floral Strawberry Bavarois is made using Shiseido’s traditional recipe and has orange slices to represent the wheels of the train carriage. In addition, the ice cream made from strawberries and milk, the sauce made from strawberries and oranges, and the decorations come together to create an aesthetically appealing piece of art.

    During this campaign period, there is a set meal in which you can enjoy a cup of coffee or tea with this dessert for the price of 1,980 yen (inclusive of tax). However, depending on the availability of the fruits used in the dessert, you may not be able to taste this dish at all or may get a modified version of it at times.

    3. Tokyo Marriott Hotel’s Pastry & Bakery GGCo.’s Sakura Egg (東京マリオットホテルのペストリー & ベーカリー ジージーコーの桜エッグ)

    Over at Tokyo Marriott Hotel’s Pastry & Bakery GGCo., they are having a spring promotion titled “Spring Blossom Cake & Bread (Japanese only)” from March 1 to April 30, 2017. Of the products featured in this campaign, the most eye-catching one would have to be the Sakura Egg which costs 500 yen each.

    Since easter will be celebrated during this period, the dessert is made to resemble an easter egg with the transparent egg-shaped cups showing different layers of visually appealing colors to entice the customers. The top level is sakura gelée, while the bottom contains praline mousse with almond jelly. As such, each mouthful will bring a unique combination of tastes and textures to you.
