The town of Biei is located 15 minutes away by car from Asahikawa Airport (旭川空港). Cottage SPOONVALLEY opened in 2007 and has become extremely popular as a spot where you can transform into the main character of a folk story while staying in these adorable cottages.

Reservations are taken from three months before your stay. The cottages book up quickly so be sure to keep your eyes peeled and make your reservations as soon as possible!

    The Cottages

There are five cottages within SPOONVALLEY and each group of guests gets an entire cottage to themselves. Once you’ve checked in at the reception room, you can head towards your new home for the evening. Each building has a private terrace and is designed with walls that look like butter. All of the furniture and decoration in the house is handmade from old natural materials that are calming and soothing for the body and mind.

There are sunrooms with hammocks where you can bathe in the sun and relax. The bathrooms located on the second floor also offer an amazing view of the surrounding scenery. Each cottage is stocked with items such as a coffee machine/mill and cutlery, so you can bring your own food and cook for yourselves.

The breakfast at SPOONVALLEY is served to you in a cute morning basket that you can enjoy in the comfortable outdoor space. The basket includes a bread pot roast, a smoked ham and vegetable side dish, a smoothie and a coffee or flavored tea. The breakfast comes as part of the staying plan so there is no need to make an additional reservation.

For dinner, if you make a reservation beforehand, you can get SPOONVALLEY’s monthly course dinner menu. The course consists of two antipastos, a main dish, pasta, bread and dessert. All of the ingredients used are freshly produced in the area and things that are in season at the time.

Some items you can find on the menu include antipasto: a seasonal vegetable soup, a basil and tomato salad, or a homemade bacon and mushroom omelette soufflé; primo piatto: a gnocchi and canola flower bolognese or a chicken paella. For dessert, you’re served up apple pie with jersey ice cream. For those who love enjoying a nice glass of wine alongside their meal, SPOONVALLEY also has various types of wines on offer.
