LEGO Fans, Don’t Miss This Fun-Filled Event in Kobe – Japan Brickfest 2017!

  • KOBE
  • Most people, regardless of age, love LEGO. This is probably because every person has a builder instinct in them – even young children can put together an easy model. LEGO has established a huge fan base around the world and this 2017, it will be holding another Japan Brickfest (ジャパン ブリックフェスト). Japan Brickfest is Asia’s largest international LEGO fan event where visitors get to see several LEGO creations and play LEGO-based games. This will be held on June 10 to 11, 2017 at the Canadian Academy (カナディアンアカデミー) in Rokko Island (六甲アイランド), Kobe (神戸).

    LEGO History

The word “LEGO” comes from the Danish words, “leg godt,” meaning “play well.” The company was founded by Ole Kirk Kristiansen, the 10th son of a less fortunate family. The company grew to become the LEGO Group and it spread across nations including Japan. An amusement park called LEGOLAND (レゴ®ブランド) was also built by the group. The LEGO brick (レゴ®ブロック) is their most important product and it was named “Toy of the Century” twice.

LEGO toys are gender-neutral. They are great for both boys and girls who like to design and build or those who dream of becoming an architect in the future. LEGO gives everyone the sense of possibility that things can be built and done in one’s unique way. It encourages imagination. For some, LEGO is a psychological tool for relaxation since the blocks are colorful and have an aesthetic appeal.

    Japan Brickfest 2017

Japan Brickfest 2016 was held at Canadian Academy, Rokko Island, Kobe. For its third run this 2017, the event will be held at the same venue and is expected to attract thousands of visitors, both local and foreign. More than 200 LEGO fan builders will join the exhibition and the venue will be filled with many works! Three halls will be used to showcase different LEGO creations.

Everyone can join the fun from June 10 to 11, 2017, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Entrance fee for children costs 300 yen, while the fee costs 500 yen for adults.

There will be play areas, food stalls, and activity workshops run by LEGOLAND Discovery Center Osaka. There will also be spot prizes for some activities. A new competition on stop motion Brickfilm will also be held. Brickfilms are films made using LEGO bricks. Oftentimes, they are created with stop motion. Those who’d like to shop can check out the flea market where they can buy LEGO goods at a cheaper price.

Japan Brickfest 2017 is hoping to bring out the creativity in people. The event also aims to raise money for Japan’s children’s charities. Furthermore, LEGO Brickmaster Builders are to be crowned during this event wherein one adult and one child will be chosen. If you seem fit for the title, then show your creative skills by joining the competition. You still have a few months to practice!
