Shangri-La Hotel, Tokyo is currently serving its Classic Afternoon Tea at The Lobby Lounge on the 28th floor. Everything is based on British tradition with a seasonal touch and the menu will be arranged in fine china plates. Alongside with the afternoon tea, you can also help yourself to a fruit buffet!
Afternoon tea is a tradition in Britain which has become popular in Japan in recent years. Many people, particularly women, are attracted to it because it is photogenic and it allows them to spend time in an elegant atmosphere.
If you ever find yourself in Tokyo, it is a must to try afternoon tea as it is all the rage these days. Groups of women who are usually in their 30s to 50s head to some of Tokyo’s luxury hotels for afternoon tea. It gives people a chance to relax and chat with friends in a different setting than usual. Many also take photos of their afternoon tea and post it on social media.
The Classic Afternoon Tea at Shangri-La Hotel, Tokyo is uniquely diverse. Everything is prepared in sophisticated china plates.
Popular menus include apple compote tart with a rosemary scent, whole wheat scones, and classic opera cake. There’s also a selection of condiments that you can try with your warm scones, as well as other treats and pastries available which are surely delicious.
Furthermore, you can go through the hotel’s extensive tea menu with more than 25 blends which change throughout the different seasons. You may try “Chocolate Monkey,” which is a blend of rooibos, chocolate, and peppercorns, or “Happy,” which is a fusion of raspberry and hibiscus tea. Recently, the hotel collaborated with Art of Tea, a California tea blender, so expect new and interesting tea offers.
Shangri-La changes up their menu every two months. They have limited tea offers and you are free to pick and change tea as many times as you want.
