    GREEN TEA RESTAURANT 1899 OCHANOMIZU is located in the neighborhood of Ochanomizu (御茶ノ水), which is easily accessible from Tokyo Station (東京駅), Shinjuku Station (新宿駅), and Akihabara Station (秋葉原駅). The interior design of the restaurant naturally uses tea-like green tones and focuses on the concept of calm dining – perfect for those who want to enjoy a relaxing meal. There’s also a terrace with 32 seats where diners can enjoy their meal with an outside view.

    1899 is the perfect place to enjoy green tea. People come here not only to drink matcha but also to enjoy the healthiness of tea. The best thing about the tea here is that they have been made from carefully selected leaves and brewed in a Japanese teapot. The amount of tea leaves used and the temperature of the water have also been considered.

    Besides tea, they also offer matcha beer made from their original recipe. You can also enjoy hojicha dark beer, which has a unique taste and aroma, or the colorful matcha wine, which is only served during dinner time.

    Matcha Beer Garden (抹茶ビアガーデン)


    From June 1 to September 30, 2017, 1899 will be serving unlimited matcha beer in their event known as “Matcha Beer Garden (Japanese only).” The line-up consists of ten different types of beers, some of which are mixed with Japanese teas. This includes matcha beer, matcha stout, hojicha stout, Japanese black tea beer, and Japanese black tea stout. It is said that matcha beer is the newest drink in Japan and that it goes well with food like popcorn and ice cream.


    1899 is also offering matcha wine, which is green tea with a sweet wine base, and a wide range of meals such as potato salad, cake, green tea sausages, and pizza.

    This Matcha Beer Garden event at 1899 will be available daily from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM. If you’d like to join, all-you-can-drink costs 3,500 yen for two hours. But if you make a reservation via this page (Japanese only) beforehand, it will just cost 3,000 yen.
