McDonald’s Giga Big Mac Is Back for a Limited Time to Satisfy Massive Appetites!

  • McDonald’s Japan is known for coming up with food items for extra-large dining. In 2016, it created the Giga Big Mac (ギガ ビッグマック) which is filled with 2.8 times as much meat as the Big Mac (ビッグマック). It was one of their crazy line-ups that went on sale for a limited time.

This year, from June 7, 2017, the Giga Big Mac returns to McDonald’s Japan branches. So if you’d like to experience a huge accomplishment in dining, better grab a Giga Big Mac now before it runs out!

Creation of the Giga Big Mac

McDonald’s Big Mac is a popular item that was introduced in 1967. It was previously known by two names, “Aristocrat” and “Blue Ribbon Burger,” both of which failed in the market because they were hard to pronounce. Then came the third name, “Big Mac,” which was created by Esther Glickstein. Over time, it was proven popular among the menus not only in the USA but also in other countries like Japan.

A Big Mac’s fillings include onions, cheese, lettuce, pickles, and the Big Mac special sauce on sesame seed buns. It became a go-to fast food for those people in a hurry. However, there are some people who thought that the size just doesn’t fill them up so they needed to buy two. To prevent this from happening, McDonald’s introduced the Mega Mac (メガマック). It looks like a double Big Mac with four beef patties. This is also sold for a limited time and is not available for delivery so burger fans need to do a little bit of walking.

    The Giga Big Mac

In the spring of 2016, McDonald’s Japan introduced an extra-extra-large Big Mac which had burger fans rushing to the store. It was called “Giga Big Mac” owing to its four-patty burger that was unusually larger. It was considered the largest Big Mac of all time. It was introduced with another extra dining option, the Grand Big Mac (グランドビッグマック), which featured a two-patty burger with lettuce, cheese, pickles, and special sauce. These menus were paired with grand-sized soft drinks and French fries which were larger than the usual sizes and were also sold for a limited time.

Now, they’re back which is probably good news for those who love digesting massive burgers! The Giga Big Mac costs 700 yen while the Grand Big Mac costs 490 yen. The Giga Big Mac is a great option if you’re really hungry and two Big Macs just won’t do the trick. On the other hand, those who are not ready to take in the Giga Big Mac might as well choose the Grand Big Mac which is just 1.3 times the size of the usual Big Mac.

The availability of these gigantic burgers often has a gap of a year or more which makes burger fans wait anxiously. The number of Giga Big Macs being served per location is limited, so if you’d like to grab a bite of these huge burgers, then you better head now to your nearest McDonald’s before they run out!
