Have you ever dreamed of releasing an energy ball like Son Goku? Riding a robot like those pilots you see in Gundam, Evangelion, or Voltes V? Or probably being in a zombie world like the popular American TV program, The Walking Dead, or the role-playing game, Resident Evil or Biohazard? Well, all these will be within your reach with the new virtual reality (VR) amusement center opening in Shinjuku on July 14, 2017. Check it out!
The soon-to-open VR ZONE SHINJUKU is a place where both locals and tourists can enjoy various virtual realities – from anime and manga, to online games and extreme sports like skiing and racing – without risking one’s life in actuality. Powered by BANDAI NAMCO Inc., it will be featuring popular anime, game, and extreme activity-related virtual reality games that will surely spike one’s adrenaline.
Although everybody can enter, there is a minimum 13-year-old age restriction for the VR activities here. Also, despite the fact that VR is a safe amusement activity, people with weak heart, heavily drunk, and those who are pregnant are restricted to enter the facility and try the VR games. This is to prevent any possible accidents that may harm the visitors as well as cause delays in operations.
The operating hours of VR ZONE SHINJUKU will be from 10:00 AM until 10:00 PM, with last entry at 9:00 PM. However, depending on the waiting line, the last entry time may be earlier.
Though VR ZONE SHINJUKU will only be available for a limited time, the organizers have not yet announced an ending date for it. Based on Twitter posts and updates, it seems that it will be opened for the entire year!
The general admission for VR ZONE SHINJUKU costs 800 yen for adults and 500 yen for children under 13 years old. Various VR tickets range from 1,000 yen to 1,200 yen. However, if you want to enjoy a 1 day/4 VR ticket set package, you may get it for as low as 4,400 yen!
Door tickets are also available but the priority goes to people who make an advance reservation; so it is highly recommended to make a reservation rather than buying a ticket on-site. The best part about the online reservation is that you can reserve for a maximum of eight people! With that, you can surely enjoy the VR experience in a large group, with your family, colleagues, or friends, without the hassle of doing separate reservations. However, one thing that you should be careful with is that cancellation and/or modification of reserved tickets are not allowed. For ticket reservation, you may visit this website (automatic translation available).
Virtual reality is indeed a one-of-a-kind experience. It makes us enjoy activities and alternate realities that do not exist in the real world. With VR ZONE SHINJUKU, all these amazing, dreamlike activities are now attainable! More importantly, this attraction will surely add up to the list of amazing activities we can do in the Shinjuku area!
