Tokyo will be hosting the 2020 Summer Olympics between 24th of July and 9th of August with the slogan “Discover Tomorrow” (Ashita-o-tsukamo). Most of the details are announced and main events could be happening at the “National Olympic Stadium” in Shinjuku. Six world cities: Istanbul, Rome, Madrid, Baku, Doha and Tokyo were nominated for 2020 hosting rights. Tokyo received exceptionally high score and support from all around the world. 400 billion $ are being invested in upgrading infrastructure to meet the global expectations.
Tokyo was the first Asian city to host Olympics ever in 1964. In 1940, Sapporo in Japan won the candidature as a host city but it was cancelled due to the world war tensions. Japan also hosted the 1972 and 1998 Winter Olympics. This coming 2020 Olympics will mark a new era in the history of Japan and its new strategy into the future.
Japan has won 38 medals in the last held London Olympics; out of which 7 are Gold. Japanese people are good at many sports such as Skiing, Figure Skating, Wrestling, Gymnastics, Judo and others. Japan hosted the Nagano Winter games in 1998 where it has won numerous medals in Winter sports. The Japanese love and admire Baseball, Football and many larger-than-life sports.
One of the Japanese elite athletes of all time is Kohei Uchimura who is a five time world cup champion in men`s individual all-round Gymnastics.
