There are many Disney Parks around the world but did you know that Disney Sea exists only in Japan?
Tokyo Disney Sea opened in 2001 as a part of the Tokyo Disney Resort and it was the ninth worldwide Disney park to open out of the eleven that currently exist. Tokyo Disney Sea is famous for its nautical exploration theme. The park is aimed at older guests than the neighbouring DisneyLand, with alcoholic beverages being served and with rides that are scarier and faster overall.
Tokyo Disney Sea is made up of 7 themed areas (a.k.a “ports of call”): Mediterranean Harbor, American Waterfront, Port Discovery, Lost River Delta, Arabian Coast, Mermaid Lagoon and Mysterious Island.
It has been recently announced that there will be an eighth port that will be based on the Disney animation film Frozen, that will open in 2017 with the name “Scandinavia”.
The Mediterranean Harbor represents the entrance to the entire park and includes the Disney Sea Hotel MiraCosta. It is modelled after an Italian port town and includes waterways and Venetian gondolas. Large water shows are held in the harbour every day.
