It also has been providing one-of-a-kind cultural experiences through several activities to guests for the past few years.
Popular activities include:
- Kimono Experience – allows guests to explore the city of Kyoto in traditional costumes; the activity is good for an hour at 7,000 yen per guest
- Sushi Masterclass – allows guests to make perfect-tasting sushi rolls under the guidance of the hotel restaurant’s sushi chef; the activity is good for an hour at 3,500 yen per guest
- Samurai Experience – allows guests to learn basic kenbu (Japanese sword dance) while wearing traditional costumes and with an actual samurai sword; this activity is good for an hour at 10,000 yen per guest
Aside from the abovementioned, the following are the latest additions to The Ritz-Carlton, Kyoto’s extensive list of guest activities:
1. Morning Chanting Experience
In Buddhism, chanting is a form of preparation for meditation and is part of a formal practice which is ritualistic in nature. The Ritz-Carlton, Kyoto has recently added an activity called “Morning Chanting Experience,” where you’ll be able to spend time with monks chanting with drums. You will also get the chance to learn how to play the drums and have breakfast with them after.
This activity is done in groups (couple, friends, family, etc.) with a maximum capacity of six persons. It is held at Myokaku-ji Temple for two hours and costs 10,000 yen per group.
2. Japanese Harp Experience
Another new activity is the Japanese Harp Experience where guests will be able to play the harp with the help of a professional koto player. The koto is a traditional Japanese stringed instrument played by plucking the strings.
This activity lasts for an hour and costs 8,000 yen per person.
3. Kyoto Tandem Bike Ride
The Kyoto Tandem Bike Ride activity allows guests to go on a cycling adventure with their family and friends for an hour or so. The bike tour will pass along rivers and temples, making for an enjoyable way to see the natural side of Kyoto.
This activity is ideal for two persons and is complimentary.
