  • If you’re a huge fan of Sanrio’s Hello Kitty and Japanese tea, you’ll be glad to know that you can now enjoy both of them together at a special teahouse in Kyoto. Japanese Tea House Hello Kitty Saryo allows customers to enjoy Hello Kitty-themed food and tea in one place. They have an incredible food menu and a garden where you can spot a Hello Kitty stone carving. They also have a shop where you can get Hello Kitty goods and other related souvenir items. Check it out!

Japanese Tea House Hello Kitty Saryo

Japanese Tea House Hello Kitty Saryo looks pretty with its Hello Kitty theme. Unlike other Hello Kitty cafes or restaurants, the teahouse is not brightly colored nor is it in pink. Instead, it has a sophisticated appeal with Hello Kitty details. It has a minimalist design and its colors are soothing and natural.

Once you enter, you’ll see Hello Kitty stuffed toys on some tables. For me, the best table is the one with the view of the Japanese garden.

If you happen to check the teahouse’s bathroom, you’ll also find that it has been carefully decorated with Hello Kitty accents. Look around and try to spot all the Hello Kitty decorations!

    The Menus

Most of the items on Hello Kitty Saryo’s menu are Japanese, with a few exceptions of foreign dishes such as Western-style pasta. They offer different kinds of cute dishes which can give you quite a difficult time to choose. An English menu is available so you don’t have to worry if you can’t understand Japanese.

Some of the dishes on offer include soba noodles with steamed vegetables, Hello Kitty confectionery, character drinks, tempura, and a lot more. You can also have a Hello Kitty matcha latte or a parfait. Of course, being a teahouse, they also serve tea and many people actually come to the place for morning and afternoon tea. They also have seasonal dishes on offer depending on the time of your visit.

    More Hello Kitty Goodness

If you head to the garden, you will see a Hello Kitty stone statue welcoming you, which is one of the highlights in the teahouse. There’s also a traditional tea room called the “Golden Tea Room” with a Hello Kitty figurine inside.

Hello Kitty Saryo is open from 10:30 AM to 6:00 PM. Last order for food is at 4:30 PM, while last order for sweets is at 5:30 PM. The teahouse is just a 10-minute walk from the Higashiyama Yasui bus stop.

Hello Kitty lovers will surely adore the uniqueness of this place. They also have a souvenir shop next door where you can stock up on some Hello Kitty souvenirs such as apparel, tenugui towels, sweets, and a lot more! Hello Kitty Saryo is near many sightseeing spots in Kyoto so you’ll surely have a lot of fun dining and touring around.
